I have always loved dogs and started doing obedience with my brother's hunting dogs; an English Setter, Weimaraner, and a Beagle in the 1950’s. My children were in 4-H also and wanted to show dogs in obedience too. We also showed Quarter Horses, Brown Swiss cows, dairy goats etc. But dogs seemed to always go on. My daughter traded 3 kid goats for a Golden Retriever Puppy once - and we were hooked. We were taking more and more obedience lessons and got better dogs. I then saw how the Golden Retrievers were excellent hunters and discovered field trials and hunt tests. The rest is history. I worked for the State of Wisconsin for 40 years and lived in the country in Dane county and knew when I retired, I wanted more land that I could develop into training grounds for retrievers. We bought 80 acres in Columbia County, near Pardeeville, Wisconsin in 1999 and wanted to have a place to train retrievers. We built a home and a building and also dug a couple of ponds.
